August 7, 2011 –
Heavy overnight rains in Bonnyville have cancelled the last 2 days of the Bonnyville Chuckwagon Championship, so Grant Profit, driving the Ja-Co Welding & Consulting Ltd. outfit, and along with outriders Chance Flad and Chad Fike, have been declared the 2011 Bonnyville Chuckwagon Championship champions after posting the best 2-day aggregate time of 2:32.65. Profit wins the rain-shortened event by just 16 one-hundreds of a second over runner-up Luke Tournier, with Kelly Sutherland, Mike Vigen and Jason Glass rounding out the top five overall. It’s the second win on the season for Profit who captured the Medicine Hat Exhibition & Stampede back in June.
The first two days in Bonnyville saw perfect weather and racetrack conditions, and saw the track record fall twice – first to Rick Fraser on opening night and then to Mike Vigen on night number two. Vigen’s track record now stands at 1:15.21 set from barrel number 4.
The WPCA Dodge Pro Tour now moves into Dawson Creek, British Columbia for the Battle of the North starting on Wednesday, August 10, 2011 and running through to Sunday, August 14, 2011. Racing from the Battle of the North in Dawson Creek can be heard live every night starting at 7:15pm (MST) on Classic Country AM1060 out of Calgary, 890AM CJDC out of Dawson Creek and 99.7 FM The Wolf out of Bonnyville.
