Let the competition begin…the search is on for the 2011 Stampede Queen and Princesses
Calgary – The competition for the 2011 Stampede Queen and Princesses gets underway this Saturday and there are 13 young women who’ve thrown their cowboy hats in the ring. The month-long contest starts with the first riding competition Saturday, Sept. 11 at 11 a.m. at the Al Azhar Fezdome.
The media and the public are welcome to attend the event.
All competitors, the current Queen and Princesses and contest organizers will be on hand for interviews.
The contest will consist of Saturday’s riding competition which will be followed by a speaking competition on Saturday, Sept. 18 when the 13 contestants will be cut down to 10 semi-finalists. Then, after a second riding competition on Saturday, Sept.25, the final 10 will be cut again to six finalists.
The 2011 Stampede Queen and Princesses will be crowned at a new event on Sunday, Oct. 3 after a final riding competition a day earlier.
The Stampede Royalty act as official ambassadors of the Stampede by promoting western heritage and values to the community and around the world – making more than 400 appearances during their reign. The winning three contestants must embody the Stampede values of integrity, pride of place, western hospitality and commitment to community.
