Battle of the Rockies – Rocky Mountain House, Alta.

WPCA Dodge Pro Tour – August 19, 2010

A few little hiccups but a great night of racing nonetheless on opening night of the inaugural Battle of the Rockies in Rocky Mountain House, Alberta. Despite a smoky haze from the B.C. forest fires lingering over the grounds, the weather was perfect, and the local Rocky Mountain House committee did an exceptional job with the opening night. Rick Fraser will be remembered for winning the first day money at the Battle of the Rockies and establishing the first track record with a run of 1:17.87.

Coming off barrel number 2 in heat 5, Fraser, driving the Neway Oilfield Services Outfit, won the day money by just 6 one-hundredths of a second over Grant Profit who placed second on the night. Rae Croteau Jr., Colt Cosgrave and Jerry Bremner rounded out the top five for the night. Troy Dorchester received an average time for his run tonight.

The chuckwagon recording the top aggregate time over the 4 days of the show will be declared the 2010 Battle of the Rockies Champion.

Friday and Saturday’s races will go at 7:00pm, with the final run to go Sunday at 2:00pm in Rocky Mountain House, Alberta.

Live radio coverage of the Battle of the Rockies from Rocky Mountain House, Alberta can be heard starting at 6:45pm Fridat and Saturday and Sunday starting at 1:45pm on Classic Country AM1060 out of Calgary, 890AM CJDC out of Dawson Creek and 99.7 FM The Wolf out of Bonnyville.
