Congratulations to eight Canadians — Clay Elliott, Zeke Thurston, Jake Watson, Orin Larsen, Jake Vold, Kolton Schmidt, Levi Simpson and Jeremy Buhler for qualifying for the 2016 Wrangler National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas, Nev., Dec. 1-10, 2016.
Zeke Thurston of Big Valley, Alta., Clay Elliott of Nanton, Alta., and Jake Watson of Hudson’s Hope, B.C., have each qualified in the saddle bronc riding. In the bareback riding event, qualifiers are Orin Larsen of Inglis, Man., and Jake Vold of Airdrie, Alta.
In the team roping event are Kolton Schmidt (header) of Barrhead, Alta., Levi Simpson of Ponoka, Alta., and Jeremy Buhler of Abbottsford, B.C. Simpson and Buhler are the first all-Canadian team roping team to ever qualify for the world championship.
