A Bazillion Canadian Steer Wrestlers Were Proven Right…

It was quite an upset when steer wrestler Clayton Moore from Pouce Coupe, B.C., rode into San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo and won. What makes the victory even sweeter is that it was accomplished on his 2012 Steer Wrestling Horse of the Year?—?Pistol.

The SW Horse of the Year is voted on by the bulldoggers (men that slide off a perfectly good horse) and there are many great steer wrestling horses to choose from. Pistol, Clayton’s 15 HH black, home-raised gelding has enjoyed a “rebel” rep for years and in his past, has been known to bog his head and buck off a dogger that tries to come back up into the saddle after a scotched run in the arena.

“He’s kind of grown out of it now,” says Clayton. “But there’s still guys that won’t get on him, no matter how good he works.”

Some cowboys might not get on Pistol, but they still voted for him and now the rootin’ tootin’ Horse of the Year and Champ of San Antone is proving about a bazillion CPRA bulldogger’s right.
