Alves Repeats as PBR World Champion

Las Vegas, NV: Confusion was sort of the name of the game this afternoon at the PBR World Finals during the final few riders in the championship round. Names from, Austin Meier to LJ Jenkins and even as far down as Renato Nunes were brought up as possible World Champions as each rider came down from their bulls.

When the dust settled, as first expected, Silvano Alves was crowned the World Champion for the second consecutive year. Basically, Alves rides every single bull. In the game and the way the PBR is set up, he’s going to win every time if he rides all his bulls no matter the scores in all reality. It’s the same with Robson Palermo winning the World Finals for the third time in his career. That’s over $750,000 in that one arena in five short years.

Yet another Brazilian, Emilio Resende, was crowned the Rookie of the Year. If you’re a fan of bull riding, it would be a benefit to you to make your way down to Brazil someday to see a show down there. You’d understand why they come up here and win all the money.

Congratulations to Silvano, Robson and Emilio. Best of the best in the entire world.

Circle T Ranch’s Asteroid was named the PBR Bull of the Year. He edged out Bushwacker by a quarter point.

As for our Canadians, Ty Pozzobon got himself another score on the board this afternoon in Round Five. 86.5 came in on the Jeff Robinson bull Party All The Time. Ty wasn’t impressed with himself and how the ride ended. It could have made the difference. At the time, it put him in 14th place in the average to get himself back to the Championship Round. Unfortunately he was passed by several men and did not make it. Pozzobon finished inside the top 20 and had a very respectable showing at his first PBR World Finals.

Aaron Roy & Chad Besplug were both unable to make the whistle today. Chad’s hand came out of his rope when Charlie Bullware came back around the other way. He looked defeated and very disappointed in that out as he’d won a ton of money on that bull before. Aaron is ready for the PBR Canadian Finals and his shot at his unprecedented third PBR Canadian Championship in Saskatoon, SK on November 16 & 17.

See you all in Saskatoon.
