Ian Tyson is coming back to Alberta during CFR week, and this time performing at the historic Bailey Theatre in Camrose! On November 5, for one night only, the legendary country singer will be performing at this newly re-opened building, and tickets go on sale today!
If you haven’t heard of the Bailey Theatre, it has quite the life story… It was built in 1910 by a rancher who moved to the Camrose area from Winnipeg. The first documented show was on February 23, 1911. It was named the David Theatre and remained so until 1920, when Stan Bailey (who had purchased it from David in 1912) expanded it and renamed it to the Bailey Theatre. It was open until the mid 1990s when the multiplex opened in Duggan Mall and the little Bailey Theatre couldn’t compete. The building was donated to the Bailey Theatre Society but they couldn’t afford to finish the required work. In 2006, one amazing Camrose resident donated 1.75 million dollars to the society for the reconstruction of the building. In April 2011, the theatre officially re-opened!
Tickets are $47 each and can be bought by calling the Bailey Theatre at 780-672-5510. Their hours are Monday to Friday from 10am-noon and 1-4pm.
