It was a beautiful 20°C and partly cloudy skies in Bonnyville for night 2 of the Bonnyville Chuckwagon Championship. The races were fantastic once again in front of a capacity crowd, and Mike Vigen emerged as the top wagon on the night after a track record run.

Coming off barrel number 4 in heat number 4, Vigen, driving the Hamel’s meat Market outfit posted a record time of 1:15.21 and placed first overall for the day by 32 one-hundreds of a second over Grant Profit who placed second on the night. Kelly Sutherland, Luke Tournier and Mark Sutherland rounded out the top five on the night. Vigen’s 1:15.21 beat Rick Fraser’s track record run on opening night by 90 one-hundreds of a second.

After two runs, Grant Profit, driving the Ja-Co Welding & Consulting Ltd. outfit, sits first overall with a 2-day combined time of 2:32.65. He sits 16 one-hundreds of a second ahead of Luke Tournier, followed by Kelly Sutherland, Mike Vigen and Jason Glass. The driver posting the best 4-day aggregate time after Sunday’s run will be declared the champion of the 2011 Bonnyville Chuckwagon Championship.

Day 3 of the Bonnyville Chuckwagon Championship from Bonnyville can be heard live on Saturday, August 6 starting at 7:00pm on Classic Country AM1060 out of Calgary, 890AM CJDC out of Dawson Creek and 99.7 FM The Wolf out of Bonnyville.
