It was 14°C under variably cloudy skies on Night 2 of the North American Chuckwagon Championship at Guy Weadick Days in High River. For the second consecutive night the dust was flying on a very good racetrack, and Troy Flad posted the top time in two days with a very rapid 1:15.70.
Coming off barrel number 4 in heat number 3, Flad, driving the Ironwood Building Systems outfit won top money for the day by 70 one-hundreds of a second over Doug Irvine, followed by Rae Croteau Jr., Rick Fraser and Mark Sutherland who made up the top five on the night.
Day 1 winner Kirk Sutherland leads the overall aggregate standings with a 2-day combined time of 2:34.51. That puts him 51 one-hundreds of a second ahead of Doug Irvine who sits in second place overall, followed by Troy Dorchester, Jordie Fike, and day 2 winner Troy Flad.
The driver posting the best 4-day aggregate time after Sunday’s run will be declared the champion of the 2011 North American Chuckwagon Championship. Day 3 of the North American Chuckwagon Championship from High River can be heard live on Saturday, June 25 at 7:45pm on Classic Country AM1060 out of Calgary, 890AM CJDC out of Dawson Creek and 99.7 FM The Wolf out of Bonnyville.
