Lakeland College will be playing host to the Canadian Working Cowboy Competition and when it is all said and done one cowboy will be named Canada’s Greatest Working Cowboy.
The competition will take place on Friday, April 15 and will consist of five events – ranch roping, stock dog trial, ranch horse competition, ranch doctoring and ranch bronc riding.
“We will probably have between 15 and 20 in the ranch horse competition and last year we had something like 33 teams in the roping so we are expecting kind of the same this year,” said Ron Hoffman, livestock production program head for western ranch and cow horse at Lakeland College.
The competition will run all day with an evening program starting at 7 p.m. which will feature the ranch horse competition, ranch doctoring and bronc riding.
